NATO-Ukraine emergency meeting: Alliance preparing specific measures due to Russia"s aggression

KYIV, January 27 /Ukrinform/.The follow-up actions due to the intensification of Russian-backed terrorists' activity in Donbas were discussed during an emergency meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission on Monday, the press service of the National Security and Defense Council [NSDC] has reported.

"During the meeting, the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council [Chairman of the Ukrainian part of the Ukraine-NATO Joint Working Group on military reforms Mykhailo Koval] has informed the representatives of NATO about the current situation in the east of Ukraine and that the Ukrainian side has incontrovertible evidence of Russia's involvement in the events in Mariupol and its support of terrorists in Donbas," reads the statement.

According to the results of the meeting, the parties has strongly condemned the actions of DPR and LPR terrorists supported by Russia, primarily, their attacks on civilians, as well as Kremlin's aggressive policy.

In addition, the Allies once again urged Moscow to stop supporting terrorist with modern heavy weapons, financial and human resources, as well as to return to the negotiating table.

The North Atlantic Alliance noted that subsequent Russia's aggression against Ukraine would not be left without an adequate response of the world community.

Deputy Secretary of the NSDC Mykhailo Koval will attend a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Joint Working Group on military reforms on January 27, during which it is planned to work out the current arrangements in detail, in particular, to identify specific practical measures on the part of the Alliance and its member states aimed to support Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression, as well as issues of Ukraine's security and defense sector reforming.
