Immunity abolition bill to be sent to Constitutional Court

The bill to abolish parliamentary immunity and limit immunity of judges will be considered at today's plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and sent to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

This was stated by Verkhovna Rada speaker Volodymyr Hroisman, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Today I have instructed to prepare, to vote and then to send it [the bill on immunity abolition] to the Constitutional Court, in order to start the procedure of abolition of the unlimited, unreasonable, shameful immunity of MPs and judges of Ukraine," he said.

The speaker also asked the MPs to unanimously support the initiative of the President to abolish the immunity.

Earlier today, meeting the leaders of factions, the Prime Minister and the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, President Petro Poroshenko initiated submission of the bill to abolish parliamentary and to limit judicial immunity to the Ukrainian parliament.
