Yatseniuk wants to deprive officials of ATO participants" status

Public officials, who stayed in the ATO area only for a few hours, should be deprived of the right to obtain the combatant status.

Opening the government's meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk instructed the Social Policy Ministry and the Justice Ministry to introduce corresponding changes in legislation, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"It is unacceptable for public officials and civil servants to run quickly and get the status of a combatant after staying in the area of anti-terrorist operation for a few hours. Therefore, I ask the social policy minister and the justice minister to introduce corresponding changes in the law, which should provide for granting the status of combatants to those, who defend the fatherland. Those, who function as civil servants in the ATO area and perform government's instruction as civil servants, cannot be ATO participants," Yatseniuk said.
