German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that the situation in the east of Ukraine remains "extremely unstable" and more efforts are required for the establishment of peace in the region.
The German Chancellor said this at a press conference on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported. "The situation is extremely unstable ... but it is not surprising," Merkel said, mentioning the situation around Debaltseve.
"From the very beginning of this situation it was clear that we had to work a lot. And I've always said that there is no guarantee that our efforts will be successful. It will be an extremely hard path," Merkel said.
