The ceasefire agreement due to take effect in eastern Ukraine from Sunday seems very far away for the residents of Svitlodarsk. FRANCE 24 reporters followed the volunteers who bring them supplies and evacuate those fleeing heavy shelling.
Every day, Roman and Genady risk their lives bringing aid to the residents trapped in towns near the combat zone.
"These are my countrymen," said Genady as he was driving at high speed on a road shelled from both sides. "The people are in a terrible situation. Maybe one day I’ll need their help."
FRANCE 24's Roméo Langlois, Mayssa Awad and Luke Brown joined them on the risky ride into Svitlodarsk. Watch their report in the video above.
