The US Senate passes resolution on Savchenko"s case

The US Senate passed the resolution S. RES. 52 The call to release Ukrainian combat pilot Hope Savchenko, who was captured by Russian troops in eastern Ukraine and illegally detained in a Russian prison from July 2014.

A text document is available on the website of the US Congress.

The document states that the Senate "condemns the Government of the Russian Federation for its illegal imprisonment of Nadiya Savchenko"; calls on the Government of the Russian Federation to immediately release her, urges the US and its European allies and the international community to "aggressively support efforts to release Nadiya Savchenko and other illegally detained persons"; "expresses solidarity with the Ukrainian people."

It should be noted that the House of Representatives has received for consideration a resolution similar in content to that passed by the US Senate.
