NATO general makes statement on «Russian direct intervention» in battles near Debaltseve

The commander of the NATO joint group ground forces in Europe US General Ben Hodges said that the Russian military "took part in the battles near Debaltseve in Ukraine."

It is reported by Dozhd Russian television channel citing Reuters.

"Judging by the amount of ammunitions, typical armaments it is absolutely clear that there is a direct Russian military intervention in the region of Debaltseve," Hodges said.

General also expressed his concern that "if they are successful in Debaltseve, their attention can be switched to Mariupol."

In addition, the general said “10 battalions of Russian soldiers are concentrated" on the border with Ukraine.
