Today, the EU Foreign Affairs Council is to strengthen targeted sanctions against Russia, blacklisting 19 individuals and nine institutions, an Ukrinform correspondent has learnt from a European diplomat in Brussels.
"Last week the Committee of member states' permanent representatives at the EU Council completed a legal text on expansion of targeted sanctions against individuals and entities, which enroach on sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The EU Foreign Affairs Council, which meets on February 9, is offered to approve this decision, providing for additional listing of 19 people and 9 institutions," the source said.
As reported, the Lithuanian Ambassador to the EU informed that this list included five Russian officials - three executive branch officials and two members of Russian parliament. The rest are separatists from "DPR" and "LPR".
These targeted sanctions include visa ban and freezing of assets in the EU territory.
