Immunity abolition bill sent to Constitutional Court

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a resolution on submission of the bill on the abolition of parliamentary immunity and limitation of judges' immunity to the Constitutional Court to obtain expert conclusions.

365 MPs voted for the corresponding decision, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The bill No. 1776 on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on the immunity of members of Parliament of Ukraine and judges provides for excluding the provision on immunity guarantees from the Article 80 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

According to MP Ruslan Kniazevych, the Constitutional Court should make conclusions on compliance of the bill with the provisions of Article 157 and Article 158 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

Parliament's speaker Volodymyr Hroisman noted that the bill could be passed as a whole in September 2015.
