Merkel, Obama intend to strengthen mutual understanding on Ukraine"s issue

U.S. President Barack Obama will host Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House on Monday, February 9, and among the issues to be discussed will be Ukraine and Russia, Radio Liberty reported with reference to the White House.

The two leaders will also discuss other issues including counterterrorism, ISIL, Afghanistan, and Iran, reads the report.

They will also cover economic growth, international trade, climate change and Germany's plans for hosting the G-7 Summit in June.

Chancellor Merkel's visit highlights the importance of U.S.-German cooperation on global affairs and the strong and abiding friendship between the United States and Germany, said the White House spokesman.
